UPDATE “Halfway to Home”!

With over 45 volunteers and friends of Halfway to Home bused in from the Antelope Valley, last night in a Bakersfield night court a decision was made.

Halfway to Home’s permit was not renewed… yet. The court has ruled that on September 22, 2011, Kern County will give Suzanne of list of what they want done at the rescue, concrete work, etc. She will be allowed 50 dogs, where the county only wanted 10. WINNING! And, she has 3 years to get all of this in order! WINNING again!

NOW, the hard work begins… HWTH is run solely on donations and Suzanne’s Social Security. She has the largest number of volunteers for a rescue.

But, to save this shelter they will need help! To get the concrete work done, in itself, will be a big undertaking which will be costly. Three years may sound like a long time, but in reality it is just a flash in time. They will need donations! This rescue is dear to my heart as two of my furbabies were rescued here. I know times are hard, the economy is bad, but maybe instead of that Starbucks coffee, donate! You get my meaning.

I ask you to please share this information, please help save Halfway to Home and the countless dogs that are rescued every year!

Fight or Flight?

We all know what this means. In a crisis we either fight or we run. Which would you do? Lately I’ve been running or rolling as it would be. And I’m not a ‘roller’! I’ve always been a fighter. And definitely not a quitter, which is also what I have been doing as of late. I know that the fight is inside of me. I was physically attacked many moons ago in front of my apartment building. I fought and the guy ran away. So, I know the fight is there, I just need to find her again. This is not to say there will be many days I want to quit, but I am looking for my little fighter again. I know that if my PPMS were a person I would have kicked the shit of out her a long time ago. Fighting the MS will be tricky as ‘she’ is not a tangible being. But when has that stopped me before?

Look out Bitch!!

The past week has been very rough and it is not over yet. Hands still shaking, legs still weaker than normal, transferring is tough, fatigue is kicking my ass. I’m still quite depressed, as being in this fucking chair is really getting old. The first thing I see when awakening is my chair and it is the last thing I see when I go to sleep. A HUGE reminder that I am crippled. I think it is so hard because I know what it is like to walk, to be able to go when I please, have Independence… ALL of which was ripped out from under me, literally!

I am hoping the ‘fight’ in me comes back. I cannot make any promises as I have no idea what each day is going to bring. I am terrified of going to sleep as I never know when waking if my body will have finally succumbed to the MS. Will I wake up totally paralyzed? What then? I know there will be days and blogs where my pain will come through like a punch in the face, so be prepared.

I only have myself and my inner strength to count on. I know I have family and friends, but this fight is solely up to me. No one can ‘fix’ my emotions but myself. Some have suggested counseling… sorry but talking to someone in high heels and who is healthy is NOT for me. I do not care how many books they have read or how many people they know in a wheelchair, they are not living it so they have no clue! This is FACT not fiction!

Well the hands are getting weak and my head is staring to nod, so I’m out!

But, before I go, good luck with the Rapture! I know I’ll still be here tomorrow as will everyone else. Well, maybe not the quacks that believe this, hopefully they will go!

We had a great time on the show today. One of our fabulous friends, Cristen aka crisastbury4, called in and we had a great chat! Shemar Moore was our ‘Hottie of the Week’. He is fine!!

We also talked today about the building of the Mosque near Ground Zero. And it gets a big “0″ from Ruby and me. I get religious freedom and all, but this is wrong on so many levels.

Bathroom Day 1 complete

Time for tile!

We are shooting for a Saturday finish. Keith, the tile guy, came by to make sure all was going well. Then we were informed ho would not be charging for labor either. It took all I had not to cry. I was so overwhelmed by their generosity. After they left, the tears fell. I looked at Rog and asked why, why would anyone do this for me? Why do I deserve this? These things do not happen to me. He just smiled and said if anyone deserves it, that it is me. Yup, you guessed it…I cried more!! lol These are truly Angels in disguise here on Earth.

Lots of Angels came forward for this. The fab 4o ladies with their donations totaling 1100.00, Universal and their donations of 1500.00, and now these amazing men and their donations of their time and labor! I am still in awe of all these amazing people. There are no words that can express my emotions and my feelings for everyone involved. All that comes out is WOW!!

The Bathroom saga – It’s starting!!!

It’s finally happening!!!!

Bobbi, the woman at my hubbies work who is the MS walk go-to girl for my team has a fab fiance, Tom. He is a contractor and does construction for movies etc.

He came out and measured and said he will get me my bathroom!! woot woot

To add to how amazing he and Bobbi are, he is not charging me any labor. Rog and I will go get all the materials for the job and he and Rog will gut the bathroom. Tom is then going to prep the bathroom for the tile.

Then, one of his guys who does tile will be coming out and adding the handicapped bars, shelves, built in fold up shower chair, etc and putting in the tile. We will pay labor for him. Which is all good.

I’m defiantly going to get or do something nice for Tom and Bobbi for the free labor. That is an amazing gift to me.

I am so excited. I’ve been for so long for this and now it is happening!!

Thanks so much to the fabulously 40 ladies and Universal for your help in making this dream a reality!!

Cool Beans

For the second year in a row, my hubby and his co-workers have had fundraisers, bake sales, and did the MS Walk in support of moi. Next year I am going to design a cool logo for our team, Tracy’s MSKateers. I cannot even explain how I felt in 2009 when Roger told me his buddies from work were going to start doing my walk. Then, again in 2010. We are hoping to do this yearly. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to walk across the finish line when they find the cure! It could happen!!

Shemar and some of his Criminal Minds co-stars have done the Bike for MS. I think I love him and the show even more now!! lol I’m sure that would just make their dayz!!

Easy Tuesday!

My #2 dd [darling daughter] has a friend over. My #1 ds [darling son] is on his computer and in and out of the house. My #3 dd is sitting in the room with me playing Mario Party 7 on the Wii. I did my 15 mins of my pedaler and my arm exercises. Then got in the shower [not an easy thing to do]. I cannot wait until I can finally get in and out of the shower easier. A friend of Roger’s is coming by sometime soon to price out working on our new accessible shower. It is going to be so cool to shower with ease and not have someone coming in constantly to check on me.

eeeek!!

Mark your calendars for this Thursday, June 10th. The Padded Room: Unlocked and Unplugged, will be welcoming our fab friend Linni to the show. Ruby and I hope to see you there! It’s more fun in the padded room with friends!! mwaaahhhh
